A quick video about how to get more control of your dropbox file sharing URLs.
For those of you who don’t know right clicking on any file in dropbox brings you this context menu. Use the copy dropbox link to generate the URL. The URL will be copied to your clipboard allowing it to pasted anywhere else on the computer.
When you create a share the people who use that link get a dropbox popup asking them to sign in or sign up.
There are other options available that require changing that zero to a 1, 2 or 3 depending on what you would like to happen when someone clicks the URL.
I copied a URL to google docs to demonstrate what you can change in the URL to get around the annoying Dropbox popups
Change the zero to one then the file will be flagged to start the download of the file.
Change the zero to a two then the file is previewed without the popup and we have buttons to download
Change the zero to a 3 then we get a similar preview that we had with 2 but now I see a file rating at the top.
